U2 Concerts
- General Information
- Traffic and Parking Restrictions
- Temporary Parking Permit Requests
- Public Transit Options
On Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9, the Irish rock band U2 will present two concerts at the Hippodrome de Montréal, north of Hampstead. Each of these concerts is expected to draw more than 80,000 attendees, and while significant efforts are being made to encourage the use of public transit, more than half of these concert-goers are expected to arrive by car. In order to secure the site, the SPVM (Montreal Police Department) has closed all on-site parking lots to traffic and have severely restricted parking on all nearby streets. As such, it shifts the pressure onto nearby communities like Hampstead.
To deal with the massive influx of concert-goers on our doorstep, the Town of Hampstead is instituting extraordinary parking restrictions across the community. Specifically:
ON-STREET PARKING IS PROHIBITED ON ALL STREETS
ON JULY 8 AND JULY 9, except for parking permit holders
ON JULY 8 AND JULY 9, except for parking permit holders
