ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Household energy expenditures are on the rise in Quebec. This rising demand comes at the price of bigger energy bills for consumers, and the current rate of consumption growth has led Hydro-Quebec experts to predict that the province may no longer be a net exporter of energy as of 2020.
Environmental impacts are also to be considered, even among cleaner traditional sources of energy such as hydroelectricity and natural gas. Human health is ultimately put at risk as a result of these environmental impacts.
Residents are therefore encouraged to reduce their household energy demands. By implementing safe and simple conservation measures, Hampstead residents can help protect their environment, safeguard public health, and save money on their power bills.
HYDRO-QUEBEC ENERGY WISE CAMPAIGN

Hydro-Quebec is presently conducting, in collaboration with municipalities, a province-wide Energy Wise Home Diagnostic campaign designed to provide each household with personalized and detailed tips on how to reduce energy consumption. In addition, for each filled questionnaire, the municipality receives $30 (paper form) and $35 (online form) that goes towards the funding of a chosen community project.
Hampstead has pledged to invest raised funds in its Embellish your Garden City project, which is aimed at enhancing the town’s streets and parks by means of landscaping.
