Fleet Road Beautification

Fleet Road Beautification Project

Recently, important work began on Fleet Road to renew and beautify this vital town artery. This project entails the planting of new trees and shrubs in the median along the entire length of Fleet Road in Hampstead, along with a colourful array of new flowers. This work means that much of the concrete will also be removed, making way for a more inviting and vibrant ‘green' corridor through the heart of our town. Left-turn traffic signage will also be made larger, to further discourage through traffic on our quiet side streets.

In order to complete this work, however, it may be necessary to close traffic lanes during certain periods to facilitate the delivery of new plants and ensure the safety of workers. It is very important to note that traffic will not be disrupted during rush hour periods, in order to avoid undue traffic congestion. Instead, work will only take place according to the following schedule:
  • Eastbound (towards Montreal) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Westbound (towards Cote Saint-Luc) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday
In each case, only one lane will be closed in each direction, and these closures will only be in the immediate vicinity of the work taking place. Our Public Security officers will also be monitoring the contractors' work, in order to ensure that these restrictions are followed.

Every effort is being made to limit the inconvenience of this project, which we believe will bring added value to our ‘garden city'. As these new trees and shrubs mature, it will further add to the natural ambiance and green character of our community. Should you have any questions about this project, we encourage you to contact us by phone at 514 369-8200 or by email at info@hampstead.qc.ca.
