Water Main Rehabilitation - Harrow Road / Harrow Crescent
As part of our ongoing effort to renew municipal infrastructure, the Town of Hampstead will be conducting major water main rehabilitation work on Harrow Road and Harrow Crescent this fall. The work, which will take place in stages, will begin on Monday, September 19.
Rather than the complete excavation of the street, this rehabilitation work involves small excavation points along the length of the work site. The pipes are relined with a special epoxy resin which strengthens the interior, extending their life for an additional 20 years. This process has been successfully used at other sites in Hampstead, as well as across the island of Montreal, reducing costs while avoiding undue inconvenience to residents.
Please note that only the following civic addresses are affected by this work:
- 48 to 95 Harrow Road, inclusively
- 222 to 280 Harrow Crescent, inclusively
Unfortunately, since the water mains are located near the sidewalk, some of the work may require the demolition of portions of the sidewalk, as well as the excavation of small sections of grass and pavement. Please be assured that the Town will repair, at its cost, damage caused to lawns, walkways and driveways on properties directly affected by this work to our mutual satisfaction.
The work on Harrow should be completed within five weeks, barring unforeseen delays due to poor weather and other similar obstacles. The overall project is an investment of $193,125 by the Town, and will significantly reduce the risk of water main breaks in the area.
