The Town of Hampstead wishes to inform residents of a recent development regarding the wave of break-ins that have been occurring in luxury homes across Montreal. On Friday, June 2, the SPVM (Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal) made a significant breakthrough in their investigation by apprehending four suspects. This breakthrough was made possible by the diligent efforts of the West Criminal Investigations Section, along with the support of several neighbourhood stations, including PDQ 9, which covers our own Hampstead area.

The individuals arrested, aged 21, 30, 37, and 38, are believed to be connected to an organized group of burglars responsible for these break-ins. Thanks to the different techniques deployed by the SPVM investigative team, they were able to identify and track down these criminals. During the arrest, a substantial amount of jewelry, worth $95,000, was seized from their vehicle. Furthermore, a subsequent search at one of the suspect’s residences led to the discovery of additional jewelry valued at over $100,000.

While these arrests are a significant step forward, the police investigation is still ongoing to determine if the suspects are linked to other break-ins in different areas of Montreal. We urge all residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

If you have any information that could assist the investigation, we encourage you to contact 911 or your local police station. Alternatively, you can report anonymously and confidentially through Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133 or by using the reporting form available on the infocrimemontreal.ca website.

Hampstead residents are encouraged to keep implementing prevention measures to make our community safe and secure. Stay aware, report any suspicious incidents, and support the diligent efforts of our local police and public security teams.

Thank you for your cooperation.
