You may use any garbage bag\u00a0inside\u00a0the bin.<\/p><p>Bins must weigh\u00a0no more\u00a0than 100 lbs. (45 kg).<\/p><p>Place your\u00a0completely closed\u00a0bin, wheels facing your house, at the edge of your property.<\/p><p>Any\u00a0excess garbage\u00a0must be packed in yellow Town-approved garbage bags and placed by the bin.\u00a0Only\u00a0use these bags for excess garbage.<\/p><p>Yellow Town-approved bags (with Hampstead logo) are available for purchase for $12\/package of 10 bags, taxes included. Flattened cardboard boxes may be placed next to the bin when they cannot fit inside, provided they are neatly stacked and secured to prevent scattering.<\/p><p>The modernization of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s recycling system aims to standardize practices across municipalities, improve environmental performance and ensure better recovery and valorization of recyclable materials. A single, harmonized list of accepted materials now applies province-wide, simplifying sorting at the source and reducing contamination.<\/p><p>The Bac Impact program, implemented by \u00c9EQ, supports this transition through education and awareness initiatives designed to encourage clear, consistent and effective sorting practices.<\/p><p>By adopting responsible recycling habits, residents play an active role in reducing waste and advancing a more circular and sustainable economy.<\/p><p><strong>Materials collected<\/strong><\/p><p>Paper and cardboard<\/p><ul><li>Newspapers, aluminum
