Ongoing Projects

Ellerdale Street Rehabilitation

Project description: The Town of Hampstead will undertake a full roadway rehabilitation of Ellerdale during the upcoming warm season. The work will include pavement milling and resurfacing to restore structural integrity, enhance ride quality, and extend the service life of the roadway infrastructure. This intervention forms part of the Town’s proactive municipal asset management strategy.
Selected contractor: Roxboro Excavation Inc.
Schedule: Starting May 19, for a period of approximately six weeks.
Temporary impacts: Full closure of the street and adjacent intersections.
Investment: $990,000

Pedestrian Crossing Rehabilitation

Project description: Rehabilitation work on the pedestrian crossing along Avenue Fleet will commence following the spring thaw. The objective is to enhance pavement marking visibility, strengthen pedestrian safety, and ensure compliance with applicable standards. Temporary traffic adjustments may be required to safeguard both road users and on-site crews during construction.

Road Safety Fund Financial Assistance Program (PAFFSR)

Project description: The Town continues to implement measures financially supported by the government of Quebec through the Road Safety Fund Financial Assistance Program. These include a pilot project involving seasonal curb extensions delineated by flexible bollards, the construction of a permanent curb extension, and the installation of speed humps compliant with provincial standards.

These interventions are designed to reduce operating speeds, protect vulnerable users, improve safety at key intersections, and implement evidence-based traffic calming strategies. All funded initiatives are aligned with the 2025–2028 Road Safety Strategic Plan and reflect the Town’s commitment to safe and sustainable mobility.

Safety Plan – Hampstead Park

Project description: A comprehensive safety plan is being implemented at Hampstead Park to enhance user protection. The initiative includes improvements to pedestrian circulation, enhanced signage, upgraded lighting, and the mitigation of conflict points between vehicles and vulnerable users. Targeted communications will be issued as the project advances.

my.Hampstead Citizen Portal Enhancements

Project description: Ongoing modernization of the Mon.Hampstead citizen portal is intended to streamline service requests, optimize online transactions, improve digital accessibility, and enhance request tracking. These enhancements support a more efficient, secure, and user-centred digital governance framework.

hampstead.qc.ca Website Redesign

Project description: In anticipation of the contract renewal, the municipal administration requested the citizens feedback to guide a comprehensive redesign of the institutional website. The objectives are to enhance user experience, provide structured and comprehensive municipal information, and facilitate direct access to the online service request system.

Schedule: January to May 12, 2026.

Infrastructure Improvements – Parks and Recreation

Project description: Several infrastructure enhancements are planned within the Parks and Recreation Department. These include the addition of woodchip surfacing to mitigate sand wasp activity in play areas and at the outdoor gym, renovations to the washroom and kitchen facilities at the Community Centre, the installation of additional features at the Councillors Park splash pad, and targeted improvements to municipal pool infrastructure.

Water Meter Installation

Project description: Over a three-year period, the Town will implement a phased installation of residential water meters. This initiative will enhance consumption monitoring, ensure more accurate data transmission to the Finance Department, and support sound fiscal planning in preparation for tax billing. It reflects a broader commitment to responsible and sustainable water resource management.
