The Town of Hampstead recognizes that quality of life depends on mutual respect and the preservation of a peaceful residential environment. By-law 795 regulates not only excessive noise, but also other situations that may disturb residents’ comfort, safety or well-being.
The regulation is designed to balance everyday activities with each resident’s right to tranquility. A noise or activity may be considered a nuisance when it is excessive, repeated or unreasonable in a residential setting.
