According to the Highway Safety Code, children must be secured in a car seat until their seated height (from the seat to the top of the head) reaches 63 cm. It’s not their age, but their height, that determines when a car seat is no longer required.
All car seats sold in Canada must display a label confirming compliance with national safety standards. To ensure proper installation, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions before using a car seat for the first time.
Hampstead Public Security offers a free car seat inspection service by appointment. Our officers will check that your car seat is properly installed and meets all safety regulations.

Each spring, Hampstead Public Security inspects swimming pool fences and gates to ensure they close and lock properly and meet safety standards. These checks help prevent accidents and ensure compliance with regulations.
If an issue is found, the pool owner will receive a written notice and must make the necessary repairs within 48 hours. Failure to comply may result in fines starting at $500.
Keep your pool area safe—make sure your fences and gates are always secure and in good condition!
