The Town of Hampstead wishes to inform residents that the major rehabilitation project on Rue Ellerdale will officially begin on Tuesday, May 19, for an estimated period of six to eight weeks.

This project represents an important infrastructure intervention aimed at improving the condition and long-term durability of the roadway.

During the work, Rue Ellerdale will be closed to through traffic and accessible to local traffic only. All intersections along the work zone will also be closed throughout the duration of the project, with the exception of the Queen Mary intersection during peak traffic periods in order to help maintain circulation.

The Town recognizes that these measures will have significant impacts on traffic and daily travel within the sector. However, due to the sensitive nature of the work and the presence of a major water main located beneath the roadway, strict vibration control measures are required throughout construction operations. It is therefore imperative that motorists respect the local traffic restrictions, detour routes, and all temporary signage in place.

Significant congestion and delays are expected, particularly during morning and afternoon rush hours.

Residents are strongly encouraged to:

  • Plan trips in advance
  • Allow additional travel time
  • Prioritize alternative routes whenever possible
  • Exercise caution near the work zone and follow all temporary signage

The Town and the contractor have worked collaboratively to implement mitigation measures intended to reduce impacts on residents and maintain safe circulation throughout the duration of the project.

We thank residents for their patience and cooperation as these important infrastructure improvements are carried out.
