Cybersecurity Incident Involving the CodeRED Platform
The Town of Hampstead wishes to inform residents of a security breach affecting the CodeRED platform, a telecommunications system previously used by the Town to send emergency notifications by phone, text message, and email. This platform operates completely independently from all municipal technology systems.
Although the Town discontinued the use of CodeRED in 2020, some data associated with former accounts may have been compromised during this incident. According to information provided by OnSolve, the company responsible for CodeRED, the affected data includes the name, email address, telephone number, and password associated with the CodeRED profile. No banking, tax, or other municipal information is involved.
Please note that the CodeRED website is currently inaccessible as a result of this incident.
Recommended actions:
- If you were subscribed to this alert system and tend to reuse passwords across multiple accounts, we strongly recommend changing them as soon as possible.
- Use unique, complex passwords for every platform.
- Be cautious when receiving unexpected calls or emails (phishing).

The Town would like to reassure residents that:
• no municipal systems have been affected,
• our infrastructure remains fully secure,
• the situation is strictly limited to OnSolve, the external provider.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep residents informed of any significant developments.
