International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
On January 27, the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, we mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War and the Holocaust. Eight decades later, we honour the memory of the six million Jewish men, women, and children who lost their lives, along with millions of other innocent victims targeted by the Nazi regime.
This milestone serves as a powerful reminder of the critical importance of Holocaust remembrance today, as the dignity and human rights of so many continue to be under daily threat. By remembering the Holocaust, we confront the dangers of hatred, dehumanization, and prejudice while standing up for respect, inclusion, and equality.
The Town of Hampstead encourages everyone to reflect on this dark chapter in history and to commit to rejecting hatred, Holocaust distortion and denial, and all forms of discrimination. Together, we can ensure that the lessons of the past inspire us to build a future rooted in dignity and human rights for all.
